The federal government allows you to use the funds in your RRSP to help you return to school.
    

 

Going back to school

 

The withdrawals from an RRSP for continuing education are exempt from federal tax.

You can withdraw a maximum of $ 20,000 and the annual limit will be $ 10,000.

You will have a maximum of four years to make withdrawals.

Terms

You must be enrolled in training or higher education full time for at least three months during the year.

Students with disabilities may qualify even if they are studying part time.

Reimbursement

You must start repaying your RRSP the year after the end of your studies full time or after the sixth year after your first withdrawal at the latest.

Repayment is in equal instalments over 10 years. No interest payable.
